Insect Control

Insects such as the crane fly pictured on this page, can cause irreparable damage to your lawn. Ants, grubs, chinch bugs and billbugs are just some of the common lawn damaging insects found in Michigan. Preventative applications are used ahead of time to stop the insect population from growing to damaging numbers. This can be done only at certain times of the year such as June for grubs before they become active in July/August. If activity and damage is already noticed than a surface contact insecticide is to be used (which is a fancy way of saying it instantly works on the active insects near the surface instead of waiting in the soil to work at a later time). As part of the normal program, Noble Control will always be on the look out for insect activity and communicate if any is noticed. However if you are in a ‘grub prone’ area or experience grub damage annually, then maybe a scheduled preventative application is for you.

Your average crane fly damage. Notice the thinning of the turf in a lower lying area near a water drain. Chances are this area held more water when the adult crane fly was looking to lay its eggs. Once hatched the larvae damage the turf. Similar damage to common grubs however a more of a thin/bare look instead of matted brown spots.
